Our Process

We listen to your
objectives

1

Paul leads on the design phase. We start by listening to how you want to use your garden and any issues you want resolved. We ask lots of questions so we understand what’s important to you. We start with concept design which defines the overall layout, functional areas and key features, and end with detailed planting design and specifications.

Harry leads on the hard landscaping and Paul on the planting. We agree working times on site and arrangements such as deliveries, storage, skips and facilities (electricity, water and toilets!). We build the hard landscaping elements efficiently, keeping the site tidy. We install planting using plants from locally sourced, specialist nurseries. We remove all waste from the site.

2

We build it

Gardens continually develop, and this is the start of your new garden’s journey. We understand it can be quite daunting, and we are here to help. We can provide guidance on how to care for your garden to build confidence with the new planting. We check in a few months after and see how the garden is establishing. We will gladly review your garden periodically (e.g. quarterly) and can make changes if required.

Our Pricing

A garden filled with bright yellow flowers with dark centers, blue globe thistles, and lush green foliage in the background.

We will be fair and transparent in our pricing so you understand what you are paying for:

  1. No one likes surprises, but we can’t quote for the unknown. We value open conversations about the budget so that we can design accordingly or advise if it’s insufficient.

  2. Once we have an idea of your requirements, we can provide a ballpark estimate to allow you to check affordability. We will give you a fee for the design element, which will enable us to design your garden.

  3. Once the design and specifications are confirmed, we provide a detailed quote for the build and planting.

  4. We will propose a payment schedule so that both parties are clear about what payments are due when and the links to job progress. We will not ask for a substantial amount of money upfront, nor will we invoice for incomplete work.

Example Costs

Most people underestimate the cost of garden design and landscaping, so we have provided some example price brackets to help manage your expectations. However, please note that every garden is different.

The biggest driver of cost is the amount of hard landscaping (paving, paths etc.) due to the cost of materials and effort involved. At Craft we want to maximise your value for money and will “right size” the hard landscaping to suit your requirements. Not only does this save you money, it reduces the environmental impact too.

  • This budget covers small garden makeovers - with some hard landscaping and planting — or changes to parts of larger gardens.

  • This is a good budget range to transform the majority of suburban gardens. This is when additional features such as pergolas, outdoor kitchens, water features or lighting become options.

  • Transformations for larger gardens potentially including significant level changes, expansive entertainment areas and feature planting. Features such as large outdoor kitchens, outdoor saunas or natural swimming pools become options.
